Allied Waste Single Sort Recycling BinWe have introduced our new Commingle Recycling Program to many parts of the Greater Springfield Area over the last year or two. One Bin. No Sorting. No Kidding. It's the easiest way to recycle.

Place all your recyclable materials in one bin... no separating or sorting needed. We'll do it for you!

Allied Waste has customers using Commingle Recycling right here in the Greater Springfield area! It's been a tremendous success and our customers love it! We've invested millions of dollars into a program that increases recycling volumes and makes it easier to recycle!

Place all your recyclable material in the new recycling bin without separating or sorting!

Pick-up will be every week in most areas.

The easiest way to recycle and it is here in your neighborhood!

1. Residential Paper Fiber:

Recyclable papers include:
• Newspapers including inserts (remove plastic sleeves), Cardboard (no waxed cardboard),
• Kraft (brown paper) bags, 
• Magazines, Catalogs and Telephone Books,
• Office, Computer, Notebook & Gift Wrap Paper (no metal clips, spirals, binders),
• Chipboard (cereal, cake & food mix boxes, gift boxes, etc.)
• Carrier Stock (soda & beer carrying cases)
• Junk Mail & Envelopes (no plastic cards, stick on labels or unused stamps)
• Paperback Books (no hard cover books)       

 

2. Commingled Containers:

Put all your cans, glass, and plastic bottles together in your recycling bin. We will separate them at our recycling facility for you.

All containers to be emptied and rinsed clean.

No motor oil, insecticide, herbicide or hazardous chemical containers.

Plastic bags should be returned to the grocery or department store.

No plastic film (no plastic sheets, tarps or wraps).

No expanded foam or clear polystyrene per joint advisory from the Illinois Recycling Association, Illinois Department of Commerce & Community Affairs, and Region 5 US Environmental Protection Agency.

Recyclable container products include:
• Aluminum beverage cans, trays and foil (trays and foil must be clean) and tin/steel cans
• Aseptic Packaging & Gable Top Containers (milk & juice cartons)
• PET Soda, Water & Flavored Beverage Bottles (#1 clear and green plastic resin)
• HDPE Milk & Juice jugs (#2 clear plastic resin
• HDPE Detergent & Fabric Softener Containers (#2 colored plastic resin)
• PVC Narrow Neck Containers Only (#3 plastic resin): such as health & beauty aid products, household cleaners.
• LDPE Grocery Containers (#4 plastic resin): such as margarine tubs, frozen desert cups, six and twelve pack rings.
• PP Grocery Containers (#5 plastic resin): such as yogurt cups, and narrow neck syrup and ketchup bottles.
• #7 Plastic Resins Narrow Neck Containers Only.
• Plastic buckets, such as kitty litter containers (5 gallon size maximum).
• Glass Bottles & Jars (clear, brown, green): no window glass, dinnerware or ceramics.

Please DO NOT recycle the following items:
• Food tainted items: pizza boxes, frozen food boxes (with food particles), cups, coffee filters, paper towels, napkins plastic wrap, plastic silverware.
• Bathroom/household items: razors, needles, light bulbs, plastic bags, and medicine containers.
• Plastic bags
• Clear plastic packaging (strawberries, etc.)
